Veteran’s Foundation Grant

Vetrun180 awarded £20,000 grant from Veteran’s Foundation to benefit even more wounded, sick and injured veterans through adventure therapy expeditions The Vetrun180 team is delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Veteran’s Foundation to help reach more veterans with our adventure therapy in 2023 and into 2024. Run by veterans, for veterans, we know that our unique model of adventure therapy works, and our ambition is to help even more people like us to change their mindset for the better. The generous £20,000 grant will enable us to reach more and more diverse beneficiaries, including those with more complex physical needs, and to expand our network of trained Team Leaders – all of whom are previous expedition beneficiaries themselves. Thanks to the support of the Veteran’s Foundation, we are adapting two further vehicles in our fleet to use hand controls. This means that all our current vehicles are fully useable by amputees, and increases the spaces on each expedition we can offer to veterans with more complex needs. We are also able to bring on board new Team Leaders identified during our 2023 summer expeditions, who will help grow the Vetrun180 community and strengthen our ability to reach more beneficiaries – veterans like us. They are being trained in all aspects of what it means to be a Vetrun Team Leader, including advanced first aid training, mental health awareness, vehicle maintenance and much more. Some of our trainee TLs will be able to put their skills into practice during the next off-roading trip across Scotland later this month. The Veteran’s Foundation funds charities and other charitable organisations that help serving and former members of the Armed Forces, and their dependants, who are in need. It raises its money through the Veteran’s Lottery and we are proud to be among the many funded charities who are working towards better lives for veterans.

As veterans themselves, our Team Leaders are stepping up to lead our expeditions and support the veterans that take part in them. It is only right that we look to equip them with the knowledge and skills that they will need to remain adaptable and are able to respond to provide support in some of the remote places that we travel to.
